Today is a Lazy Sunday Afternoon. I decided to make some Puli Sadham and Potato Podimas. My DH’s favorite combination. This dish goes well with curd rice, and Sambar rice too.Sometimes with the leftover podimas i make sandwiches or puffs the next day.The possibilities are endless. So here goes the recipe for Potato Podimas.
Ingredients:
- 3 Potatoes-medium sized.
- Salt to taste
- Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp.
- chilli powder-1Tbsp.
- Oil -2 Tbsp
- Saunf-1 tsp
- Garlic-3 or 4 pods
- Onion-1 medium sized
- Gram dal-1 tsp
- Urad dal-1tsp
Preparation:
- Pressure cook the potatoes for about 6 whistles until soft. Peel off the skin.
- mash it not so finely and add salt, chilli powder and turmeric powder and mix it well. set it aside.
- Chop the onion finely.
- Crush the garlic with the skin on it.do not peel.
- Heat the pan and add Oil.
- Once Oil is hot, add Saunf, and garlic.
- Let it roast.
- Then add urad dal and gram dal.Let it roast.
- Add Onions. when it starts to turn brown, Add the potato mixture that u have set aside.
- Add a little more oil so that it doesn’t stick to the sides of the pan.
- leave it on high for 2 minutes. When the bottom layer starts to get roasted nicely, turn them so that the upper layer is in contact with the pan. Repeat it, so that the pototo gets nicely roasted.it gives a very good taste.
- Serve it with Curd Rice, Puli sadam(tamarind rice), Sambar rice.or make them into sandwiches or samosas.Enjoy!
